Default 1995 XJS 4L Convert - Valet switch function?

My 1995 XJS 4L Convertible has a switch in the storage box, between the seats. It has a switch mounted on the inside forward face. Valet switch? The switch is a rocker type that depresses left and right. The right side is spring loaded to return to center. I'm unable to locate any info on this particular style of switch. Can someone please describe it's functions? While we're at it how can I re-code the remote that came with the car?
Cheers, Steve

Hmmm...doesn't sound stock. As far as I know, there should be no stock switch in the storage box. I have a 95 as well. The PO of my car mounted a radar detector on the forward wall of the box so that the wires run under the skislope. Many folks have also installed spring loaded rocker switches or two separate switches to bring the rear quarter windows down independent of the top down switch, which in my car, doesn't work. I will be mounting and wring in quarter window switches very soon myself. Do you know if your switch works the windows? You said it's spring loaded to center in one direction only? How is it in the other direction?

When the rocker switch is pressed on the left side it stays in the depressed position. See below.

Tried all the efforts in the sticky. Don't know the function of the "valet switch" in the image above.
Obviously a previous owner has made some modifications ...

Definitely not stock, so it could be anything. I wouldn't know what part of valet would the switch be a part of. Pull up the ski slope and follow where the wires are going.

A quick guess would be the car did not come with a valet switch (mine does not have one either) and you cannot program a new fob without the switch so some owners have had to add their own switches.
