rear window switch xjs convert
Here's a 700+ page manual for all XJ-S. I skimmed the window part a bit, is there a button in your car for the convertible. I believe the rear windows roll down when you press the roof button, that's what I gathered from skimming.

Also, this would probably make a good FAQ, jim or Big.

Pardon me for not being up to my Marks, but is an XJS an XJ40??? I was under the impression that the XJ6 and 40 were four doors, albeit there were a few coupes in the earlier XJ series.... I stand to be corrected.
PLus half the people don't even no what an Xj40 is, I didn't until 2 weeks after I had my car... I figure if I have the answer I will help, if i didn't know what to say, just critisize for using wrong forum

Doesn't sound like it. JW, look at my previous post. The side windows, the rear quarter glass windows, move with the top. Any time the top comes down, these go down with it. There is no separate button for them. If you want to lower those windows and not the top, no problem. Just leave the top latched and press the top button. The top won't move, but the windows will. This does not hurt the top motor, it's designed to do this. If you windows don't move, you probably have bad motors. Very common and very expensive.

I just came across your posting about the xjs rear window switch. The rear windows on a convertible are called quarter windows; they are not operated seperately; when opening the conv. top, they move to an open position automatically; and then when closing the top, they will closeas well.
hope that helps.
