1995 XJS v-12 Price help
So, I am planning to look at this guys 1995 XJS v12 in a few days. Asking $12,000 with 53,000 miles on it. Things that need replacment is AC compressor, new seat covers and carpet. Do you guys think that is a fair price if the mechanical is sound?
That sounds high to me, needing those items. I am thinking much less. Those items are going to be very pricey to do right. I can't imagine the correct leather, along with carpet, being in the 1500-2K range. If the A/C isn't working, its anybodys guess what that may end up costing. I can't imagine it being any over 7500 needing those things. But please, take that with a grain of salt. I bet when I get done with my 89, I'll have at least 15K in it, and it will NEVER be as rare, potentially valuable as a 95 V12 convertible.
I purchased my 95 v12 coupe almost a year ago for 6,000. It had about 80,00 miles, needed tires, AC compressor, antenna, trunk struts, and one of the seats needs upholstering. I think 12,000 is a little high unless it is spotless.
I would put it in the $7-9 K range with what you are saying. Maybe even less if the rest of the car is not outstanding.
The thing I would consider is why is the car with 50000 some thousand miles is needing so much interior work and why was the a/c compressor not replaced already. All this makes me think the car was not taken care of as well as it should have been with the miles it has and the only reason I would even say may be worth $7-9 K is because of its relative rarity and future collect ability.
Can you imagine how many times someone asked a friend years ago a question like, " do you think this '62 E type is worth $5K with a poor top and front seats needing recovered? ". I am sure many many people wish they had ponied up the asking price on something like that then. Who knows what the future will hold for a 1995 XJS V12 convertible but if I were a betting man I would say the future is looking brighter as every year passes.
