2 Micro switches
I have two micro switches on my 86 XJS V-12 Convertible. One on each side of the throttle tower, Both look to operate off of the throttle cable. The one on the passenger side disintigrated when I took it off and I`m trying to find out what it did and where I can get one. The drivers side is whole but I thought I should change that one also. I can`t find it in my manual either and a few suppliers say they don`t see it in their books. Can anyone tell me what they are so I can replace them? Are they the same switch different purposes? Thanks Rod

The one on the left side is the transmission kickdown switch. The one on the right side is a fuel injection enrichment switch. Typically they are replaced with common generics ("snap action micro switch") but don't buy too cheaply....some don't hold p well to engine heat.

The Jaguar part number, by the way, is C33509. You can Google "Jaguar C33509" and get lots of hits. The same switch was used for different functions on various Jags over the decades. An oddity in Jaguar parts catalogs is that it'll usually be listed as a "kickdown" switch even when used for a different purpose.

I have found that (at least) the kickdown switch is the same as the micro switch on the gearshift of a golf cart. Not sure about the resistance to engine heat yet, but the golf cart switches are about $3 each at the dealer. I bought several because I could. Google the part number printed on it, its the same.
