2003 XJ8 Longevity
I bought this purring kitty with 11,400 miles in 2006. We have put 67,000 trouble free miles on it and it now has 78,000. At 6-years I changed the plugs with 55,000 miles because of rumors that the coils could start to labor and go bad. Other than that I have replaced the front brakes at 45,000 miles and put one new set of Michelins with a 60,000 mile warranty, that is it. I installed a high performance cold air intake and it has helped me get up to 26 MPG on the highway at 70MPH. Also changed the tranny fluid at 45,000 and will do it again at 90,000 to be safe. This is the best built car I have ever owned bar none. Rock solid. Anyone out there have one with over 100,000 miles without changing the timing chain tensioners? I know mine has the 2nd version of the hard plastic that is suppose to be better. I do not want to have to mess with the engine at all unless absolutely necessary, anyone have some feedback.
Hi
You will likely get a better response if you post in the correct forum which for your car is XJ8 from 1998-2003. As you have found out from experience, Jaguars are well built cars, although I have to tell you, having had a 1980 XJ6 for 14 years, it was not always like this !
