Default 4L oil cooler lines

Im having a heck of a time sourcing these OEM. Does anybody know if there are any other mfgs that would work to replace both lines? I found these ( Jaguar XJS Oil Cooler Hose - Free Shipping - SST ). They say they will fit my car, but the pic doesn't look the same as the hoses that I am replacing. Anybody had any luck with these or similar items. I can get them fabricated, but I was quoted $250 each! Ouch! Any advice would be much appreciated

Default 4L oil cooler lines

My cooler line(s) ruptured at the rear of the engine and set my car on fire. I replaces them with flexible hoses running along the left frame because replacing the originals is a difficult job. Happy with it like this. Total cost about $50.00.

Stillill, I looked on the web page you sent and you have to scrool to the bottom of the page and click on the right side blue writing. That is the correct hose. The first hose shown on the page is not correct. luck.

Ragjag. Thanks a bunch for your help on this. Are you talking about the hose for the XJ6? That was on the right side when I clicked. http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/sh...aguar/xj6.html

The longer line shown, part # ending in 4553. The short one won't work for your 4.0
If you want to keep the car original that is the way to go. If not, you have to remove the old flexible metal ends that bolt to the tranny and to the radiator and replace the flex part with 3/8" I.D. hydraulic hose and run those to the radiator on a route away from the engine block and exhaust manifold heat. Saves money and is easier to do, imho. This mod is not noticeable unless you look closely and know what you are looking for. Cheers.
RagJag.

Hello!

Just to clarify, you are talking a about the OIL cooler lines that run from underneath the fuel filter, correct?

Those typically leak right at the o-rings, but if you need the hoses themselves, they are part CCC6911 and are still available thru jaguarclassicparts.com and the other usual places. About 100.00 per hose. Its super easy to do yourself. The car takes 2 hoses and don't forget the o-rings !

Now, if you are talking about the transmission cooler lines, those do have to be fabricated or do what Ragjag did. I did what Rag did.

By the way, it looks like you, Ragjag and me have BRG AJ16 convertibles!

Yes, Stillill, I live on the West side of Richmond proper. Not in the city but close. If you ever drive the old girl to this area give me a call. We can shoot the bull about these cars. I am retired so any time is good. Luck with the lines. Careful removing the old rubber as to not damage the metal so they won't leak.
I hope your stillill name doesn't mean you are sick.

Still ill. Old Smith's song. It's been my username on forums since high school. Just took my Jag on her first real road trip this morning. Took the eastern shore from Norfolk to Annapolis. Hit 110 mph on the Salisbury bypass! Don't tell Johnny Law ;-) She was smooth as silk. It felt like 70 - 110 happened in about 4 seconds. I gave her a little more throttle when I hit 110, and she jumped. Probably could have gotten to 120 on that straightaway. I love this car!

Do be careful. lol Are you going to put shocks on it? I did, and finally wound up with Boge units. I ordered Manroe #39003 shocks and they would not fit my 1996. I had a pretty difficult time getting my money back from Just Suspension in NC. Finally did get the refund though.
Cheers, RagJag
