Default 6CU vs. 16CU

Will 16CU ECU box work on 82 XJS HE and will it improve anything?

Thanks!

I'm pretty sure it's a direct swap but, as I recall, the 16CU is technically superior and more reliable but doesn't provide any actual performance advantage.

But my memory is fuzzy on that stuff so here's some reading:

LUCAS EFI / AJ6 Engineering

And I'm sure you'll find a chapter on the ECUs here:

Experience in a Book

Cheers

I have 2 16 CU here at the house. I tried a swap on my 1984 XJS and it would not run. I think the 16's I have may be too new maybe. I thought the CPU's were bad but the guys at Jaglovers said they were the wrong 16's

You are welcome to get with me and try one of them.

Brian, are you selling them? If I can't find the source of trouble with my car I may need to look into another CU.

Yes I am. I am not 100% sure they are good since the swap did not work on my 84. If you need one, I will send it to you and trust you to pay me if its good. Or trade me a XJS part.

if it is any conciliation, back when I had my '82, I pulled the 16cu from my '89 parts car and tried to use it in my '82 but it didn't work. I assumed that it was because the '89 was a Marelli car and the '82 was a Lucas.

Yeah that is probably what went wrong. The people I bought it from even sent me a second one, so now I have 2 that I can't use. I can't test them to say 100% sure they work but I am 99% sure they are good.

Hey I am just down US23 abour 1hr 45min from you. Please let me know if you need a hand or would like to borrow one. Then if it works you can pay me a little for it.

There use to be one heck of a Jag tech on here a while back (jagtechohio) but I have not seen or heard from Andrew in quite some time. Check my page it has my contact info.

Hey all Jamie wanted me to let you know he is fighting some health issues and will be away for a while. He can't get to the site from his cell phone. He will update with us soon.
