Default 83 XJS Speedo

Can anyone tell me if the speedometer in this model is mechanically driven or electronically driven? Mine is not working and currently I am having a trans shop do work on the transmission for me, and I figure if it's mechanically driven I would get a new cable and have them put it in while the trans is out.

If it's electronically driven, I am not sure. Sensor? Relay? Wiring harness??

Not sure when the XJS went to electronic speedo, but if it's cable driven the transmission will have an angle drive for the cable.

The trans shop should be able to identify this.

Also, the trans shop will see either a transducer OR a cable, stuck into the side of the GM400.

'83 XJS's are electronic.
