when i get it started (if i get it started) and i try to give it a little gas it acts like it's dying, then revs back up, then dies again, then revs back up. It does this until it eventually does shut off. Sometimes it even idles like that. Like it's not getting enough fuel. I've tried everything from a new fuel pump and filter to trying a fuel system cleaner. I thought maybe it has somethign to do with the ignition system, but i can't tell. Anyone know what might be going on?

 

i've run some checks on the coils and the ignition amplifier, but they checked out. The car has two coils. One is auxilary to help out the main coil with the 12 cylinders it has to keep up with. It's points ignition. When it did run it sounded smooth. like it was firing on all cylinders, so i'm not sure if that is ignition.

 

I might be able to figure it out before i can save that much.

 

If you have fitted a new pump have you checked the correct pressure is reaching the injectors, also I know you've put a meter across the ignition amplifier but I would swap this with one from a known running car (and the coils as well if possible) to rule it out completely asa breaking down amplifieris a common problem on these cars. (it gives a normal reading when cold but starts to break down after a short time running)

 

Thanks. I did test it when the car wasn't running.Just with the ignition on. I have been told the amplifiers go bad before, but not that it might test good cold.

 

and it has a new pump on it. Pushing out between 30 and 40 psi
