'85 XJS LHD ecu shielded signal wire routing
Anyone know where the signal wire is routed once it enters the bigger harnesses near the firewall? Where does it go thru the firewall? I have no injector firing once key is released. If I push the throttle to the floor several times with ignition on and then try to start, it fires off the gas in the cylinders from injectors, then dies once I release key. The shielded wire is a mess next to ignition module, and I want to replace as much heat damaged wire as I can.

No idea on LHD, but on mine it enters the cabin at the bulkhead connector alongside our gas pedal, RHD.
I found that once I removed the panel behind the RHF wheel, the shielded wire in there was in 100% condition, like new, so I ran a new coax from the amp to that area, and spliced/solderd as required. I used TV coax from the local antenna guy.

I am pretty sure that the ECU harness (which is what Grant is describing that goes into the RHS wing) takes that route regardless of the RHD or LHD steering.
Grant's system of repair is obviously best, but as an interim fix, you might try just following the shielded wire back from the amp and removing all the outer shield etc until you get to the stage where the white (internal wire) insulation is no longer cracking and dry. Then put a connector there and run a wire back to the amp. If the shielding is earthed at the amp end of the cable (you might see a huge lump of solder connected to an earth wire on the amp end of the shielding) it needs to be kept earthed.
