89 XJS Fuel Problem
I'm new to this forum. The car cranks, it starts only with carb cleaner. The fuel was bad. I pulled the hose off the filter and drained the tank, put in new fuel and cycled the pump to get the old fuel out, I cracked a line on the eng and cleared the lines. The car would always start no problems, I've had the car for four years....in storage. I have been in Afghanistan for the last 1.5 yrs. I tried to sell the car before I left, the guy hot wired the pump to the battery, everything else is stock as far as I know. (so the pump comes on with ignition)
I read some older post, got a little information regarding the dumb wire from pin 18. I should be starting. I don't know what the injectors are doing though. Thanks. Car has 32K miles. I'd like to sell it. I'm going back in five days.

With a "noid light" you can see if the injector circuits are pulsing. Or, with even a test light or voltmeter you can at least check if the injector circuit is getting voltage. Post back for details if needed.
Do you have Marelli ignition? If so, one of the two crank sensors will, as I recall, disable injector pulse if it goes on the blink.

89 XJS Fuel Problem
Thanks for the info. I'm not sure how to check which ignition system I have. I'm thinking that I didn't run enough fuel through the system. I initially didn't know about the small surge tank that sits under the battery in the trunk. I will run more fuel through and report back.
Thanks,
DaveS
