Default 89 XJS third light bulb holder removal

How do you remove the part of the third brake light on an 1989 XJS hard top that has the light bulbs in it?

My memory is foggy on this but I think there are two tabs on the underside of the plastic housing. Push the tabs upward and slide the housing off.

Gently.

Thanks for the reply. I am trying to remove the plastic part that has the bulbs in it and not the cover for the unit. I can see a metal clip on each end but can not figure out how to release them, so that the part will come off.

Ahhhh.

Still a bit foggy but the I think the metal clips are glued to the glass and the housing slides off off them...probably upwards.

Sorry I can't be of more help.

I was hoping someone would come along and bail me out!

Cheers

Default I figured it out!!!

To remove the bulb holder you have to press it towards the rear window and slide it up along the glass.
