Recently, after a bit of well, enthusiastic driving, my jag threw me a FF17 code.
As I understand it, that indicates my throttle positioning system readings are outside their normal voltage range. She runs fine, starts fine, shifts fine, with no threat of entering limp mode as I heard many others with this code endure.
Should I even bother approaching this as there are no serious symptoms? (yet......)
If so, is this a job I might do myself? Ive heard some say all that's needed is a cleaning of the sliding contacts in the TPS, or an adjustment.
How is the TPS cleaned and/or adjusted?
And if all else fails, are there any important differences to look out for in replacement TPS units across similar years of the XJS?
to the end of evoking sympathy, here she is
Thanks guys!
