Default 94 XJS battery and radio code

Gents:

I have 2 related questions. My car was in the shop for an extended period fixing the hydraulic top pump. Battery went totally dead.

What's the correct battery for this year/model?

How do I get the radio code, do I need just the VIN or do I need to pull the radio out and get a # off of it? Do I call a Jag dealer with the info?

Appreciate the feedback.

Cheers!

Tom

Do you have the car's booklets? It should be on a plastic card that came with the manual etc.

Default Radio Code

I found my radio code under the bonnett. A simple code on a piece of white paper. Look on the backside of the hood and see if it is typed on sticker.

Thanks Guys,

Just installed new battery.

1 - I only have the "supplemental" manual and have no code in books or on a card
2 - Checked under bonnet - no code
3 - Tried the universal codes no luck
a - the universal codes are 5 digits, mine takes only 4
b - I tried entering the last 4 digits of one of the 5 digit codes
c - Unit displayed "wait" and just kept displaying wait
d - I tried turning the unit on/off and turning the ignition off/on
e - so now unit is just displaying "wait"

Even when it was working the cassette played really slowly and then just got stuck in the unit. I was going to try to fix that but now I'm thinking of just replacing the head unit.

I checked with Crutchfield and they dont have a unit/kit that works and preserves the CD changer or the trunk activated antenna (my car has the wing).

Has anyone found a good replacement head unit for this model?

Thanks again,

Tom

In my case, my radio code was written in the boot, under the boot lid. You have to open it up and look at the back of the boot lid on the inner surface. Yours might be there. Or on some other hidden surface.

Personally, I'd just replace the stereo. I did that with mine, as it wouldn't play tapes anyway, and got one with Bluetooth, which is very useful.

I did reach out to a couple of guys on eBay, one guy needs the radio itself. Called the Jag dealer too, his system was down. I'll try again Monday
