Default Access convertible top cylinders

I have a 94 XJS convertible with a hydraulic leak on the driver side. How do I access the cylinder? Antwerp filling the reservoir i created a puddle in front of the rear wheel driver side.

You will need to remove the back seat and then the side trim panel. The cylinders are behind the side trim panel. It`s actually fairly easy to remove the seat.

I was pretty sure that’s where it was. Are the lines all inside the car? I must have pulled a line off the cylinder while relocating the pump for a fuel pump job.
Thanks

I think the lines are all inside the car, I'm not 100% sure, but I believe so.

Found the problem. The line to the lower part of the cylinder was broken under the corner of the window.

Have not been able to find a vendor to replace the line. Looking for repair options now.

You should be able to repair it with a compression fitting. I have not measured, but try looking for nylon air brake line for semi trucks, it's probably very close.

I have the complete setup off an '88. Guessing it will be nearly identical.
Once I get it out out of the parts car, by the end of November, I can give you the entire setup minus the pump (sold) for a say $45 including the pistons plus shipping of course.

Appreciate the offer but Im replacing the tubing with new tubing. don't want to go back in there again. The fittings are readily available standard brass 1/4" ferrule nuts . The tubing has been challenging as its 1/4' OD, 3/16' ID and rated at 425 psi. but I found an exact match on Grainger's website. Not sure your hose/tubing will work on a 94 convertible. My pump is in the trunk and the longest is 96". Of course thats the one that broke.
Thanks for the offer.

Chuck

Found an exit match for the hydraulic tubing from Grainger. 1/4' OD and 3/16" ID rated for 425 psi. that and 1/4' compression fittings with nylon ferrule and the copper insert to keep the line from collapsing at the nut. Total cost including shipping under $50. And I have enough tubing left over to do the whole setup again.
Going to try and fill the lines my manually opening and closing the top a few times before I energize the pump.

When I had to bleed my system I filled the reservoir at the pump, then opened and closed the top. Filled again and repeated, and it seemed ok. The system seems to self bleed simply by operating the top.

The proper fluid is aircraft hydraulic fluid 5606. Cheapest place I found it was Aircraft Spruce. Doesn't matter if you get the A or H spec, get whatever is cheaper.
