Default Accumulator Ball Install Should I Use Thread Tape or Sealant?

I'm installing a New Accumulator Ball in my Car 'Cherry Blossom'

Apart from the 'O' Ring should I use Thread Tape or Sealant?

Or maybe just the 'O' ring on its own?

Hi Orangeblossom,

I haven't done my accumulator ball yet (Can't unscrew it, it's on the list) but it's just a typical high pressure connection, so i'd just use the o-ring on its own. Just make sure it's lubricated & the area where it sits in has no debris/damage & i'm sure it will be reliable.

Hi Asdrewq

Did you mean just lubricate the Threads?

Hi Alex.
I just lubed my new one with brake fluid both o ring and thread then nipped it up tight. No leaks on mine.
By the way I think my brake problem is solved. I re-bled the rear brakes and all seems fine now. I can’t get the car to replicate the sinking pedal however much I try.
Rob.

I would recommend NOT using thread tape or sealant. You don't want to trick yourself into thinking it's leak free due to the tape/sealant, you'll want to know that the O-ring is properly seated and withstands the pressure. No need to re-invent the wheel.

Cheers

Lube it with brake fluid and thread it in. Nothing else!
