Default Aftermarket stereo unit?

What units are you guys using for those who ditched the stock one? I have bought a jag-to-universal stereo plug adapter and need to replace my failing unit.

Hi Vancouver

I bought a really el-Cheapo one off Amazon £18 as being a Convertible, I was hoping that any potential thief wouldn't be bothered to take it in favor of something Hi End although to be quite honest, I thought it would be rubbish, as it didn't seem to weigh much more than the box it came in

And it also comes with all the 'Bells and Whistles' Bluetooth/SD Card and all that kind of stuff but when I wired it up, it just Blew me Away with its absolutely Awesome Sound!

Where so impressed was I with this, that I got another one for my other Car and though I'd never fitted a Stereo, it was a 'piece of cake' to wire it up and also to take the OEM out

I spent a lot of time researching this before realizing I had much bigger issues than tunes, but I narrowed my choice down to the expensive and hard to find, yet very retro looking Blaupunkt Bremen SQR 46 DAB and the more reasonably priced but less retro-looking
VDO Continental VDO Continental

This Blaupunkt is a very good option to have a modern radio but with a classic look, although I consider it too expensive for what it offers.

In my case, my cassette radio worked fine, but I no longer have operational cassettes to listen to music, so I went for a USB-radio (without CD mechanism) from Alpine (same manufacturer as the original in my car). The look is not too garish and it had green lighting as I wanted. Some will think it's sacrilege....Here you can compare a photo of the original and another of the new one.

As I have also changed the steering wheel, here you can see differences between the original interior and the one that my car now has. The last thing has been to change the gaiter of the gear level, which is now cream color like the rest of the upholstery.

I keep the three original elements (steering wheel, radio and gaiter) in case I want to sell it or return it to its strictly original appearance.

Mine was a Pioneer single CD unit,

Back in 1994 there were no loom thingies, so one wire at atime, BINGO, good to go.

Bluetooth etc etc , never heard of it.
