Alarm System
Today I did an experiment with my car. I locked the door (and set my alarm) using my remote and then unlocked the door using my key. When I opened the door the alarm went off. OK, so shut off the alarm (with the remote) before opening the door. I still have two questions.
1) Will my car start with the alarm ringing.
2)What do I do if the remote's battery dies with the alarm set??

Jomo,
It's possible to turn off the alarm etc using the key. It's all explained in the Security System booklet of the drivers handbook set.
I'd really suggest that you buy the Parts & Service Manual on DVD from Jaguar. Running an XJS is SO much easier with the correct comprehensive manual!

I didn't know my 88 had a door bong until I found it under the dash (at least I think thats what it was). It looked like a small speaker, and when I reconnected it, it made a really sad sound, so I left it unplugged.
