Also Having this issue Fuel gauge going crazy-please help
Hi All,
Mark J posted the below note on his fuel gauge swinging full to empty with no rime or reason, I to am having this problem and chose to replace my A/S Module and now it is happening even faster and more often than with the old part in, is there a "easy way" to check the ground on the dash gauges (I also have a issue with the temp gauge pinning past "hot" at initial start up and then after driving for a while it snaps into the correct temp and working order?? )
I like the idea of checking the ground at the sending unit, are there any other options for checking the sending units functionally?
Shawn
Hey there guys
My car was sitting for 3 months and when I have started driving it again, the fuel gauge is going up and down like crazy all the way to empty and then back to full. My anti slosh module is relatively new (2 years), but it's getting very hot. Should I get another module and see if it works? Or did the sender in the fuel tank go bad from the car sitting? Any other possibilities?
If anyone has any experience with this failure mode, or knows how to fix the anti slosh module, please let me know. Keep in mind I mentioned the anti slosh module is getting very hot
Thanks
Mark J

You can just pull the sending unit and check its range of resistance. Should be roughly 20-222 ohms with the latter being empty.
You can check the gauge by sticking corresponding resistors in the terminals at the end to eliminate the sending unit. EX. Does a 65 ohm read 1/2 full or swing wildly, as you say?
