Default Alternative V12 injectors

Have anybody tried another type or brand of injectors for the flathead V12? These injectors do not take kindly to sitting still for extended periods, particularly not with modern fuels.

I seem to recall that ronbros has a different type injector on his pre-HE. Perhaps he'll weigh in here.

Hi thanks, i had trouble with the early Bosch injectors, Pre HE.
my fix was 12 New injectors from a company in California, we did some research into the flow requirements close to jag, slightly higher volume, and came up with a resonable cost for 12 new inj.

but i had to make a new fuel rail, aluminum,(pix enclosed) and an adjustable pressure regulator.
been a long time 21yrs, cant remember who i bought them from, but today there are many companies that sell injectors. Summit racing has alomost anything you would need, inj, pumps, fuel regulater, filters, ETC.
it would be a good idea to get some books on EFI systems, most is just logical stuff!

altho i also use a standalone fuel computor, to make things more adjustable and smooth, a hand held box, works great been upgraded twice in 20yrs!

Thumbs up

Ron,

Are those intake elbows metal, or, are they polycarbonate, and, where did you get them? Looks like you were able to drill & tap the left one for the air temp sensor.

the intake elbows are steel, as i remember ,i was at a truck repair shop, and parts counter had some 90* 3" inside dia. tubing elbows, tite bend, had to cut off some ,welded to a flat steel plate(homemade), bolted right up to manifold TBs, and two simple K&N filters!

for air sensor i drilled the manifold, where the old cold start injector was(not needed with standalone com. is adjustable).

and the injectors were for a Honda engine,O-ring top and bottom, never did like that silly Bosch with a hose on top(dangerous engineering).

Thanks Ron,

I'm trying to find some 3" I.D. elbows made out of CF, polycarbonate, or even fiberglass...something that will insulate the incoming air from all that heat coming up from the exhaust manifolds, and won't develop heat sink, like metal does. If I can't find any, I have a few ideas about how to make them using double-wall fiberglass construction with either an airspace between the walls, or foam, to act as an insulator.

most of those products were not available 20yrs ago.

if i were to do the mods to my engine air inlet system, today , yes i would go for a cooler setup for air outside the engine compartment.

not that it would make any substancial difference, when i was dynoing my car i did back to back multiple pulls, with a closed hood, anr then with an open hood wit a large overhead fan blowing down into the compartment, as i can remember around 3-4WHP, depending on how you look at it! so a lot of money and time for little improvement.
