Alternator question DD6 6.0L / XJS 6.0L
Greetings. I am looking to replace my 1993 Daimler Double Six alternator with a high performance 175A WOSP alternator. I replaced the alternator on my 1992 5.3L XJS with a 175A WOSP and have never regretted it. They are great products.
Finding the upgrade alternator for my DD6 is a bit more challenging. WOSP doesn’t seem to have a model to replace DBC11590 (the part# for the DDS 6.0 alternator) but, I believe, it does have one to replace DBC6820. That is part that fits the 6.0L XJS that was made between 1992/3 and 1996. My understanding is that the 6.0L XJS engine is identical to the DD6/XJ40/XJ12 6.0L produced between 1992 and 1994. Am I correct with this point?
Does anyone have experience interchanging these two alternators from the XJS6.0L and DD6 / XJ40 6.0L? One key issue of the 6.0L alternator is the number of lugs: 2 on the DDS vs. 3 on the earlier XJS 5.3L engines.
Many thanks,
Charles
