Default The andy bracket?

Hi all, an avid reader of this forum but an infrequent poster.
Reading all the problems that OB is having with his AJ16 XJS, (good luck you will get it going and enjoy the car OB), made me think about my 95 xjs with the AJ16 engine.
Tha car has done 84000 miles from new and I am the third owner, so pretty much know all the service history. This made me think that it was about time to change or at least get a spare cps for the vehicle, this then made me think that if I am going to have a spare I may as well get the andy bracket in readiness. This brings me to my reason for posting, I emailed the address (helenstodart@gmail.com) in the post twice and have not had a reply, just wondering if this is still the best email or if there is another one that someone else has which is the current one?
Or possibly if there is someone out there that has one and wants to sell it.
Any information on the email or bracket availability would be greatly appreciated.

PS. While I am on here a general thanks to everyone who posts both with problems and the help that is received. It always amazes me the wealth of knowledge and willingness to help that is shown on this forum.

Can’t help with how to order the Andy bracket , but I wouldn’t wait for the bracket before ordering a spare CPS. You can change a CPS in ten minutes on the side of the road if you’re practiced, but not the bracket too. My XJS has a CPS, and related necessary ratchet and socket, boxed up together in the trunk at all times. I’ve used my emergency kit twice already. 193,000 miles and counting.

Andy is "XJR Engineer" who posts often. Try sending him a PM via the forum interface

As of January of this year, Andy has privately produced and sold 640 of these ignition advance brackets for the AJ6 and AJ16. They have been a very popular upgrade. As of May, he was discussing a change in production and sales of the bracket, after another company was found to be copying his design. Then in June he last informed us a new batch was coming. I'm sure he will update us shortly.

Hi gmacaz

AJ16 is all sorted now and running like a bird and changing the CPS is dead easy! a very 'short walk in the park' which you can do, as has been said by the 'side of the road' in 10 minutes

So wondering if the 'Bracket' would really be that much of an advantage?

Supposedly the bracket works great, more power and mileage. Andy said you can even go abit farther which is harsh on the engine, his is designed to be well within the margin of safety. I had one for my XJ6 (hence the username) before someone drove it off a very tall sidewalk and crushed the suspension into the rear body, if I still had it I'd give you the bracket.

Default The Andy Bracket

Hi all, yes I did get the Andy Bracket, I believe it was his wife who replied, it took a few days for the reply but the purchase itself was fine. I can't testify if it makes a huge difference as due to other commitments it hasn't been fitted yet. The car hasn't been started for a couple of months but it is wrapped up in the garage with the battery tender doing its job. When I get some spare time it will get fitted with a new cps, probably about the same time that I install the overdrive transmission I imported from the UK some time ago for my MGB.

PS. A belated Happy and Prosperous New Year to all the members here, and many thanks for all the knowledge/contacts that are shared on this forum.

I think it was on Jag-lovers where someone did before and after dyno runs. The difference in the 1500-2500 rpm range was +12hp and +25 ft-lbs of torque. Most people on the X300 forum report an increase in fuel economy of 1-2 mpg in normal driving. I think it's the cheapest and easiest bolt on horsepower you can get for an AJ16 engine.
