Default Andy Bracket Installation

Hey Guys,

I just bought a used 5degree Andy bracket for my XJS AJ16. As the seller lost his installation manual I have no clue how to install it.

Can anyone maybe send me his manual via pm?

Thanks in advance and best regards from Hamburg

Hendrik

Its quite self explanatory.

You’re just swapping out the old, existing bracket with the new one.

Take the sensor off. Remove the old bracket that it’s attached to.

Place sensor in new bracket, lining up securing bolt holes.

Install using same bolt used to previously secure the sensor.

Many thanks Vee I’m now a little wiser.

cheers

Is it valid for 3.6 engines too?

Where can you get it? and the price?

If you go to the link, and read through the posts, you will get the email address for the seller. He can answer your questions regarding if its suitable on the 3.6

How is the Andy Bracket, Doc? I was thinking of getting one to improve gas mileage

I haven't really noticed an improvement in gas mileage. The engine just feels less sluggish. For the amount of money and effort involved, I'd absolutely recommend it.

I did not feel a big difference. It was even less powerful in my opinion.

UNTIL I filled the cat up with 102 Octane Aral Ultimate. Now there is a huge difference. Much more responsive, seems to shift earlier, suddenly it’s really close to my V12.

Fuel quality obviously has a big impact if you drive a Andy-bracket. May the specialists here explain why…

Regards from Hamburg

The car has a knock sensitive ignition, so will retard timing to prevent knock. If you are using a higher octane fuel the system cam move to it's mapped value, plus the 5 degrees the bracket adds and it won't be retarding.

From Andy's thread, the ignition system was designed to run on 95 RON (or 90 AKI) fuel, on the engine dyno they brought it to a fully heatsoaked condition under full load and then retarded the timing 3 degrees. very rarely in normal driving will a car ever reach that condition, so you shouldn't need 102 RON fuel to get the benefits of the bracket.

On my XJR the highway mileage increased by about 2 mpg, or decreased by 0.7 L/100km after fitting the bracket.
