Installed XJ6 CPS modified bracket
Hi!
I installed the XJENGINEER CPS modified bracket.
I ordered the bracket from
Helenstodart@gmail.com.
The bracket is 75£ plus 4£ shipping from the U.K.
The bracket replaces the old bracket and modifies the Crankshaft Position Sensor
Unit by advancing the timing by 5 degrees instead of just 2 degrees.
No wiring mods or other adjustments are needed.
Time to replace and start the car is about 25 minutes. I spent about 20 minutes
Cleaning the engine area around the CPS sensor bracket.
Tools needed:
1 8mm open end wrench
1 8mm socket
These are to remove the bolt holding the CPS sensor down
1 10mm socket to remove the 2 bolts holding the bracket to the mounting
Pins.
Remove the CPS sensor hold bolt and remove the CPS sensor from the bracket
Carefully and set it to one side. I used the fan belt to hold it to one side.
Remove both of the bracket bolts and gently pry the bracket loose.
Clean the bracket pins and mount the new bracket and put the bolts on.
Now, insert the clean CPS sensor in the mounting hole. It is a very tight fit
so be careful in fitting the sensor. Bolt the sensor down.
Check your work and . . . "Gentlemen, Start your engines!"
A very nice mod that according to the comments in the XJ6 forums can
Save petrol, accelerate faster, quieten the exhaust, and promise all sorts
of manly enhancements to the XJS motoring experience.
My experience is that the engine starts quicker. Especially after the "heat soak"
restart that our XJS seem to have at odd times.
The hard start after a heat soak seems to have disappeared for now.
I am a very happy guy now.
Kind regards to all and POR - Press On Regardless.

Yes, I have it on my 90 XJ40, and fellow members @Rhett / X300 and @smgdata / X300XJR also have them and its a great mod.
It was made by Andy Stodart, who had a lot to do with the original design and timing set up of these engines, so he knows what hes doing.
Quite a few threads on here but because the bracket can cover so many different cars, there tend to be multiple threads https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...el-aj16-84092/
