Any experience with early XJS canister oil filter?

Is anyone still using the canister style oil filter that early XJS engines had? Did the early XJ12 use the same canister style oil filter? Any known issues?

My series l xj12's used the canister type. I never had any issues with them other than their proximity to exhaust downpipes.

Just make sure that the spring in the bottom is still working, they do rust/fail. It must hold the paper element up against the head. Otherwise just as good as spin on ones.
