Back at it
After a hiatus I am back at the car.
The H&E parts car is gone. Completely stripped bare. I have never taken a car down to that level before. Learned A LOT.
today while attempting the start the car and putting fresh 3 gal of $5.50 gal 93 oct gas in and then attempting to start an unexpected hiccup emerged. Teh sump tank filler neck began leaking. Turns out the inner gasket was kaput. Car is 36 years old. Ordered a new one along with a new gas cap gasket.
While I wait need input on how to deduce the problem with the blower motor. I have low and med speed on the fan but nothing on High. How do I test to find the problem?
There will be more issues but that's enough for now. Thanks

Vee,
am not sure what parts you are referring to. The 'gaitors?
The "o" ring you mentioned. Are you talking about what I refer to as the gasket on the main pick up pipe on the sump tank?
Thanks!!

Your car will need something similar to C43958...that was my best attempt at getting your part number correct, but that seems like a much heftier part tham what the convertibles use.

I don't think he's talking about the filler neck leaking - but the top of the small swirl tank - often called a sump but it isn't really. If it is the pick up on the small tank on the 'trunk' floor - the flat disk ? looks like the top of the fuel level sender ?? - that's pretty much a standard fuel sender seal - ARA1502. One of those occasions where pictures help.
Ben,
Yes, you are correct. . It is the gasket on the swirl/sump tank. The one under the battery.
No replacements seem to be available at the moment so went to Auto parts store and bought a FelPro gastket kit, $10
I can make a substitute with the gasoline approved cork and rubber squares included in the kit.. i have a template from the parts car but it is not suitable to be used as replacement. it will just crumble and leak if I installed it.

Surprices me that you can't find a replacement, they've never been cork as far as I know - the large sealing ring is like a flat rubber washer and they're readily available - here in the UK at least - is this what you seek ? check this link >> Fuel Sender Seal

I found a replacement Sump/Swill filter part listed with XKs Unlimited. No price listed.
Welsh looks like they may have one as well but back order.
Both have the seal gasket for the lock ring filler opening.
