Just wanted to share some pictures of my surge tank I did this weekend in case anyone was pondering whether or not to do it. The crap in the bottom is left overs after dumping and shaking the fuel out. A toothbrush and some penetrating oil+dish soap cleans the sock up if you can't wait around for a replacement.
Also noticed a wad of fine metal shavings collecting on the inside magnetic spout...what could that be from?
I have found that the filter material tends to swell up a bit, or somehow get clogged even when attempts are made to clean it, so a new one is best, I feel.
After reading horror stories about rusting fuel tanks I checked the condition of both the surge and main tanks of my -89 XJ-S this spring.
