Hi, I have a XJS V12 5.3. HE 1990 car in very good nick. My left hand side mirror is loose and floppy, I have tried to tighten it but I think the thread has worn. Any ideas how to fix it. If not where is the best place to get a new one.
Thanks in advance,
Billdot

Billdot,
Do you mean that the mount on the door is floppy, or do you mean that the head of the mirror is slightly loose at the junction with the mount?
If it's the former, then the 2 screws mount to captive nut plates on the inside of the door. So you would need to verify if it is the mount screws or the captive nut plates that are causing the problem.
However, if it's the latter, then that's a very different issue and is caused by a seizure of the mirror head tube to the mount tube. I can explain how to address that, but in the meantime, do not try and turn the mirror head! You will destroy the mirror.
Cheers

To add to Paul's reply, if it is the door captive nuts that have come loose, these are clinch nuts (sometimes called Rivnuts) and it is straightforward to replace them.
