Default Blowing Fuses in the ABS ECU Main Relay

Hi Guys

'The Ice Princess' has got problems in the Brake Pump department and keeps blowing fuses in the ABS ECU Main Relay

I have no idea what that is or even where to find it but one of you Auto Electrical Wizards would probably hopefully know

These are the lights I get on the dash with the ignition on

When I turn on the Ignition, these are the Lights I get (the handbrake is off) but the Brake Pump doesn't run

Fuse number 7 is the one that keeps Blowing
but Fuse number 8 is OK

Having said that, I'm not sure if they have labeled the Fuses up correctly because the ABS Pump Motor doesn't run but that fuse is ok and doesn't blow

So to avoid any confusion, if you look at the 2 X 30amp Fuses under the Passenger Kneepad (UK Car)

There are 2 X 30 Amp Fuses Side by Side together which are for the Brakes and its the one on the Left that Keeps Blowing while the one on the Right is OK

I'm not very good at following things like Circuit Diagrams so please keep and advice on this very basic and simple

I would bet you have a short in wiring loom going to the ECU.

Unplug the ECU and try it again, if the fuse blows then the problem is in the harness, if it does not then suspect the ECU.

Hi Warrjon

Cheers!

Do you mean the ECU behind the Trim of the Passenger Footwell, or is there some other place I should look?

Could I also dab 12 Volts directly on to the Original Brake Pump that I have just taken out to see if it runs?

Also Yesterday I swapped out the Brake Pump for the one on my Parts Car and that did not run either but the (Brake light with the Brake Shoes round it) did go out but wouldn't come on again

And also it did not blow either one of those Fuses

Very Strange

The ABS ECU in the boot, it's on the left up in the buttress. That fuse goes to pin 87 of the ABS main relay, then on to the ABS ECU.

Hi Warrjon

Thanks!

I'll try unplugging and replugging it as you suggested and see what happens

just sent enquiry re which fuse is for the ABS pump motor - I can see its no 8 but I cant see which of the two 7,8 (not 8,9 as I said in my enquiry) that one actually is as both are 30A green. Does it matter if I pull both to check them?
