Nah Bud. I work for Diamond. Maersk is a pretty good company to work for though. Plus their fleet looks nicer

Have to work offshore in order to keep up Jaguar obsession!

Heh so guys. Another basic Question:

I should already know this but...has the XJS always had power steering or only after a certain year?

9 days until I go home to meet the Blue Goose

Im literally jumping up and down like this little blue *******

in the meanwhile, stuck out here in the ocean, I have been reading the Kirby Palm manual (very good), reading the Jag Forum, a book on Automotive fundamentals and emailing some of my pals.

I have also stopped complaining fixing/working in electrical panels that are a mess as i think i will need patience working on an XJS from what you gentlemen have shared, especially when it comes to Lucas electrics it would seem.

All I have to look at right now is the picture I saved on my wallpaper at work. My head is about to explode!

Hurry up time!!!!!!

Wish not thy life away. Go outside, you may see a whale or a shooting star.

Not that I don't understand exactly what you're feeling...

ha ha. Good advice! I actually saw a pod of dolphins around these parts once, but havent been lucky enough to spot some whales. Plenty of ships though!

So...ive been looking online and thinking I should be owning the ROM with the HE supplements.

Do any of you guys own it, and what are your thoughts on it? Worth while? Kirby palm mentions it is not without its flaws but still worth while

The CDs are definitely worth the purchase price (however, the link you posted seems to be for the actual book, not the ROM). The early roms had horrible user interface, but, I bought a later version about six or seven years ago, which is still not ideal, but, worlds better then the early ones.

ha ha...no I mean ROM as in Repair Operations Manual, not Random Access Memory. Just the acronym that was in the Kirby Palm book.

I kinda like the paper version though as I guess you can use it whilst working on the car, instead of going back and forth to a laptop. I suppose if you had it on a tablet or something would be ok.

Oh ive been meaning to ask, and your signature pic reminded me: When did the XJS start having the double headlights?

OK, I thought you meant CD-ROM.

I have both the CD and the printed version, as well as both for the parts catalog (the parts catalog is included on the CD). I use the hard copies while working on the cars, and use the CD when I'm away from the cars, planning and researching the next project or repair. I even made a copy of the CD, which I keep at work.

The US version (and I'm sure other markets) have had the quad round headlights all along, since 1976, although there was a terrible period, post facelift, I believe, when the US cars had oval headlights, but, they were not of the same quality as the European versions, and had horrible lighting properties.

I think they were because Yank lighting laws didn't allow the one piece Euro lights way back when. So Jag fitted the two per side sealed beam units, today updated to H4 halogens. Now they're a love / hate topic . . . . . like wire wheels.

Hi Paul

In order to take your mind off the 'Goose' how about doing an insight into life on board an Oil Rig.

How many Crew, who does what, hours of working, is it as glamorous, well paid and exciting, as some of us may think?

A hidden World into which many of us may not ever get the chance to venture.

What are the 'perks'? there must be a discount on 4 star!

Maybe you could do something in the 'Off Topic Section'

it is rather hard to take the mind off the Goose but its alright, its a motivator keep busy and get home soon!

life out here is pretty busy. 115 or so on board. 12 hours, 6am-6pam shift but I am also on call. Everything that has electron flow through it is mine to look after. Get to mix with alot of different cultures which is cool. Also we have a lifeboat drill everyweek.

Lots of old gear out here. The rig was built in the 70's so it retro in a bad way lol!

It pays real well but the definately make you earn it!

So it won't be long before you trade the 'Goose' in for a Ferrari!

Is the 'Goose' in Transit? Not long to go now!
