6 days to go....

Had my first dream about the Goose last night. It arrived and was taking photos in front of it, but what the heck, my wife was driving it and not me!

In the meantime (in real life!) i have been online trying to decide between RACQ Ultimate or Ultracare. (Road Side Assistance for those out of Oz)

Ultimate = $250 per year. Towed to 100kms to your home plus more allowance on other claims.

Ultracare = $180 per year. Towed to 50kms to your home with same allowances as above but to a lesser dollar value.

Not sure. Obviously not planning on breaking down too much as she's been looked after, but anything can happen. If I break down in Brisbane its 91Kms up North to my home, so I am definately swaying towards Ultimate, however you still get on both 120kms on special towing. Can anybody ellaborate on that?

So if my car wont start from my house, maybe could get it towed into Jag Mechanic in Brisbane? That sort of thing?

Thoughts?

5 more days to go!

Anybody got any advice on Road Side assist in Australia as mentioned above?

Will be arriving home Friday. Just enough time to make sure the garage is clean and ready for Sunday's main event.

What would you say should be the bare essentials in any garage? Ok bar fridge full of beer is one, but seriously, what would you have on hand in your garage, being that it is rather small? I mean I have basic stuff, socket set , screwdrivers, plyers, hammer etc. (Probably need a decent ring spanner set though. ) What else?

Most of my tools are electrical as that is my trade. I get a feeling I'm gonna be shopping when I am home.

I think you will be so busy checking out your new ride that you wont have time to think about tools etc for a while any way. I know each time I bought a XJS it was like Christmas all over again and I found myself just checking out each aspect of the car and then as I would shut off the lights to leave the garage I would turn back on the light to check it out again.

Just had to pinch myself over and over again to remind myself I was not dreaming. Anyway enjoy the moment and I hope you savor your first few days with your new to you XJS. If you have not driven one yet you are in for a real treat.

Thanks bud

Yeah I will confess I dont think I have even driven a V8 before! Ive really gone out on a limb. The only Jag I ever drove was an Xj6 series 3 that was in real bad shape. We were visting friends and they had one parked out front. Poorly looked after but I expressed my interest in jags to them and they let me drive it around the block. That was years ago when owning a Jag was but a far fetched dream lol!

Its gonna be an experience i think!

Hi Paul

How Big is your 'Small Garage'?

In any event:

One 3ton Trolley Jack preferably Two 3ton Trolley Jacks!

Ring and Open ended Spanners

Fire Extinguisher for the Car! (essential on an XJS) so I've been told

Top up Fluids

Car Polish/dusters/chamois leather

Breathable Car Cover not the Cheap plastic type.

Oh! and a change of underwear may come in handy, the first time you take her out. (not so lol as you may be thinking!)

Good luck, enjoy every moment!

Cheers OB!

Breathable car cover...do you recommend covering it up as well as being in the garage?

Garage size is also only a one car garage. Which reminds me...i gotta fix the busted *** remote control for the roller door when I get home.

You definitely want to cover her up, in order to keep the dust off unless you are not too bothered because your garage is nice and clean and you don't have any Cats or Dogs, that might decide to jump all over it.

Im getting some photos tommorow of her when she goes up on the truck. Ill be in transit all day tommorow so mighten be able to post the pics until I get home, unless Wifi at the airport is working good.

Cant bloody wait. The journey begins tommorow.....Chopper Back to Vung Tau.....drive to Ho Chi Min city, plane to Singapore...Singapore to Brisbane.....drive up to the Sunny Coast.

Run to house, clean up garage, check mail for Jaguar Repair and Operation Manual and other books I have ordered whilst away, read , organise Road side assist and insurance, then wait in garage cross legged in Zen like state until arrival of the Goose on Sunday!

I haven't been to the Jag owners club here, but I've only spotted 1 or 2 XJSs on the road. Rare as hen's teeth.

Hit me up next time you're in town.

One lives right down the street from me and there's another one, completely restored, in my Jaguar club. But I don't see them on the road though unless the neighbor is driving 4 blocks to the post office or the club member attends a club driving function.
