Brake caliper pins too short?
I got some new caliper pins today (JLM1539, aftermarket type: #TRW PFK141) & when trial fitted in the replacement caliper they look too short for me - is this picture correct?

All other cars I've worked on have the pins going through both sides of the caliper, with the locking clips being outside of the brake pad area. I would have thought the little locking clips provided could scratch/damage the piston seal?
Also I noticed my new (recon) caliper looks different to the original one - original has a large S & G in the casting - Are all XJS calipers the same?
I hope so as I probably won't be in a position to fit them for a few months at least as i'm replacing the subframe so likely too late to return

Asdrewq,
That looks correct. They have a larger head which stops them going through too far and a small spring clip inserted through that hole on the inside edge of the caliper. The spring clip won't interfere with pads or the piston seal. Lube the pins with copperease or similar.
Good luck
