Default "Brake" dash light

On one startup yesterday "Brake" light went on. For a second I thought it was the "Park Brake" light. Pulled parking break and then released. "Brake" light went away.

Any ideas why this happened. Always sensitive to anything that comes to brakes, so wanted to check.

Obvious, but have you checked the fluid level?

Not sure of your model, but on my car the dash brake fluid warning light goes on when ignition is first switched on as part of the factory startup dash light illumination test.

My "Brake" light was being set off each time I stepped on the brakes due to a bad Brake Accumulator. On page 457 of "The Book" you'll find more information on the accumulator, how to check it and tips on buying a replacement.

on my 88 (no ABS) this light comes and goes. It has come on when I first got the car because the brakes legitimately failed, but now it just comes and goes because the sensor is crappy. I usually ignore it.

Need to check fluid. Will try that for starters.
