brake pedal switch
the cruise control brake pedal switch, my cruise was working fine then it stopped last year, when i checked the brake pedal switch it needed moving in a good 3/8". it hadnt vibrated loose or the wiring would have been wound up,.is there anything that could have caused this to need such a lot of adjustment? i note that part no DAC1895 is a switch for a series 3 but i cant find one out there for sale, anyone know a source
The innards of the switch have been known to wear out and come slightly adrift (causing the contacts to flop against the metal casing....causing a short).
Not sure if this explains your adjustment mystery

Sometimes the switches used are identical to off the shelf micro-switches.
That is the case for the transmission kick down switch on my 94.
If you can get a pic with a tape measure for scale I can try to direct you.
