Brake Pipe (Fittings) Advice Appreciated For ABS Delete Project
Hi Guys@Gals
I've just deleted my ABS as I want to go back to Non ABS Braking
Where having removed the ABS and everything else apart from the OEM Brake Pipes which I've left in place just in case I decide to refit it, at a later date when I've had it repaired (as there is Air Trapped inside that Normal Bleeding Can't get out)
I've 'Mocked Up' the Route for the Brake Pipes that I am going to connect to the OEM ones for reasons as stated above, with Polythene Tube so you will then have a much better idea of what I am doing
So my Question really only concerns the Fittings: Should I for instance use 10mm wherever possible or would a Smaller Size be better pressure wise
Should I use a 10mm Tee Piece?
I realize that there may be a Mixture of Sizes but would Welcome advice from anyone who has either done this or something Similar
Use the correct size for the diameter of the pipes, Alex. In your photo the threaded fittings will be correct for the pipes and the brass joiners. Use the same for the new pieces. I reckon you could quite easily make up some pipes and joiners to insert in the gaps where the ABS unit used to be. Knowing the flare type and size is VERY important. On pre facelifts they are SAE double flares, which they might still be on your car; but be certain before you get stuck in.
Are A and B the fronts and C the rears or what?
Here is your photo for reference for other readers:
A. is the rears. A single output circuit from the (ex) ABS that goes to a pressure valve and then splits at the back to service both rears.
B. is the single output from the m/c for the fronts, which then splits internally in the (ex) ABS, This now achieved through that T-piece and it then drives the B. & C. circuits separately to the 2 front wheels.
