Default Burl T-bar Shifter

I recently installed new wood trim done by Britishautowood. I had an elm T-bar shifter and I went with the Walnut wood and new Walnut shifter.

Its a nice golden Elm color - very typical of what you would see if you looked it up online.

That's the original one because the Elm was too light and I didn't have the Walnut one at that time.

I like the still-like-new wood finish/color on your XJS. It does bring up a touch of elegance to the otherswise sporty (if austere?) cockpit of earlier cars.
It appears to be an OTS, or does it have a working top?

Cheers,

thx forcedair1,,
car has no top(definition of a true roadster), has a snap on tonnuo cover, with zipper down the middle!
original plan was a removable hard top, with clamps.

central TEXAS never rains here anyway.

whats OTS mean?

Open Top Speedster I think.

I agree with Forcedair1, lovely wood tone. Are the photos recent? Seems to have held up much better than factory. Do you still have a source?

The first time I saw OTS was in reference to the XKE's where I believe it meant Open Two Seater.

It typically refers to the traditional no-top cars, such as the original XK120's, therefore "OTS" is never present in a sentence that includes "XJS".

Man, I can see it here in SoCal, or like Ronbros mentions, central Texas, but drive away in a car without top ... in England? Hmm..

Cheers,

the pic is around 1 yr ago, the wood has held up fantastic since 1994, guy did the complete work, including install, for $150. dollars.

tells us how much things change!

now, when i talk about the car, like at shows, i'll say its an XJS-OTS,(open top speedster), just sounds so cool!!

and show the MOT sticker in glove box door, pic enclosed. saying its is an approved 2 seat vehicle. RHD.

the guy that did the work no longer in business, not enough call at the time.

quik story; car was modified in KENT England, around 1983-85, brought into USA 1986, ended up in a storage unit many yrs, i ended up up with it in 1993, for storage fees,(0, zero dollars, i owned the storage facility).

typical XJS,it owned me, spent 2 1/2 yrs, much money,(having fun and keeping sanity), but even today, it gets lots of looks and comments, all positive, because it is an unusual car, RHD, open top, two seater, plus lots of mods,wide-body,LOUD and a little bit obnoxious.

it truly is on a different path! i never have followed the crowd anyway.
