Can someone with a 3.6 manual post driving impressions?

Hi Jeff,
Bought mine about 2 months ago - a 1990, 3.6 manual. So first impressions only and as mine has done 135k my transmission may be worn.
Sat in several and they all seem to have a heavy clutch pedal compared with modern cars. At first it was a bit of an effort to use in traffic but I've got used to it. Also you only have to dip the clutch slightly to change gear which helps.
First gear is very low but once you get moving you only really need 4th and 5th as the car has bags of torque so you can drive it almost like an auto on open roads - this is also a help with the heavy clutch. I once pulled away at a junction in 3rd thinking I was in first and the car did not protest.
The gear lever moves a very long way between gears (especially 1st to 2nd etc.) so this is no fast action sports gear change but I've had lots of fun driving country roads swapping gears. To me they are more engaging to drive than the autos, you feel more in partnership with the car but not everyone will agree I know.
Not noticed any clunks in the drivetrain although my gear lever wallows about over bumps so maybe my gearbox supports are a little soft. I will check rpm at 70 next time I am out but from memory it is not high - a shade under 3000 maybe.
Are you thinking of buying. Would be interested to hear your thoughts if you do.
Cheers,
LeeP

Thanks Leep! I'm in the process of bagging the turbo 400 and trying to determine if I want a more period trans or a later unit. I have a 5.3..
I just about bought a Federalized 3.6 manual last year that was local, and I believe the car is still available, so I may just go for it as an addition!
Congrats on your new car and have fun!
