Is that the boot mount stacker?

Does your car already have a boot mounted CD? If so why do you want to replace it?

The original is just a cd player and only plays cd files. The one l read here about was an updated version using the same cables but could play all types of cd discs like mp3 etc. Increases the listening pleasure lol

The Alpine CHA-S634 has CD, CD-R/RW and MP3 capability, if your head unit supports Ai-NET then it's a plug and play install. The manual for your head unit should say if it's Ai-NET, if not I'm sure Google will know.

Thanks for the info. I found that unit but I think the cable in the car is not Ai-net, Its the round din plug. The thread had the number of the player that was a direct replacement.

Ok the din plug is mini-bus. I took a look at the specification for the CHA-S634 and it is m-bus compatible, there is a switch that selects AI-net or mini-bus control. So it should work and you will need the AI-net to din cable

here is a link to the manual

Its the original 1991 facelift radio that was made by Alpine and l have an alpine 6 CD changer connected to the original boot cable, that's the same as the Jag one. I'm not sure what Mbus means. Is that what the used in the 90's ?

Default CD player

Hi Malc4d

assuming head unit is the same as mine (suspect it will be) you want model Alpine CHM-S630.

I have it in my 1994 facelift and it works fine. Also can play back mp3, cd-r as well as normal CD's

Regards
Rob
