Default Central Locking locks, then immediately unlocks

I have been seeing this problem more and more frequently so I guess I'm going to have to take the door card off and "fix something"

If I manually move the door lock switches from the inside, it's always the drivers door that causes the lock and unlock, never the passenger door, so I'm assuming it's the switch in the drivers door thats not closing correctly and telling the system that the door is properly closed. I've looked at the schematic and it looks like everything is enclosed, ie no exposed microswitches, etc, so I'm not sure exactly what I could do once I get the door card off.

Any advice would be appreciated

PS : I have the Keikart (spelling) central locking system, fitted on facelifted cars

I suspect the linkage to the Kiekert actuator/motor needs an adjustment. My thinking is that the adjustment is right on the cusp of operating the electrics and needs to be moved way from that sweet spot, if you get what I mean.

The Kiekert actuators, as I recall, have a fore-aft sliding adjustment and two hold down bolts. If you loosen the bolts you can slide the unit to adjust. Make your adjustment, with the door key in the neutral position, by moving it in one direction, gently tightening it down, then try the key to see if the unit operates properly. You may have to go back/forth a couple times to find a new sweet spot.

It'll all make better sense when you're in there doing it.

Worth a try, at least....and zero money spent :-)

Cheers

Hi Doug

Makes sense. I'll take the door card off at the weekend and have a fiddle. It's actually been behaving all day so maybe it's been listening to me swearing at it :-)

Just showing my OCD by updating my own threads ! (And in case anyone else has the same issue)

I lubricated both passenger and drivers side key lock barrels and all is well again.

I suspect maybe the lock barrels were getting sticky as I had stopped using them after I installed an aftermarket remote locking system.
