Default Changing air filter on 4.0 engine

I have a 93 XJS with the 4.0 engine, is there an easier way to change the air filter than removing the air intake on the throttle body and removing the air filter canister? The same year of XJ6 with the same engine uses a much simpler modern canister that just unclips to replace the filter. This is my first vehicle I have had that makes changing or even checking the condition of the filter such a hassle.I have heard some other European cars have similar systems.

You can bin the whole lot if you want to and fit an after market conversion which makes it a lot easier.
I think that AJ6 Engineering do a kit.
