I'm in NY looking for an XJS (see my Wanted ad for details), and found a seemingly good candidate in FL. What's the best way to make sure the car is the right one? I know enough to know I need someone well versed in these cars to check it out for me so I'm not heading for a near term major repair bill. Some friends have contacts in the area who are willing to check the car out for me, but they are not mechanics or particulalry Jag savvy. I have requested the CarFax from the dealer and have seen photos but...maybe there is a service I can pay to get someone local to do an inspection?

Any suggestions welcome.

 

I would ask the guys in south region section for a recommendation for a local independent jag shop. Talk to them on the phone and see if they could check it out for you. I haven't a clue as to what something like that would cost but it would be well worth the cost. They'll be able to give you an idea of repair costs.
