While looking in the Garage, for another Plastic Case I could Re-purpose, I came across this one but had no idea what could be in there
As you can see it was Dusty and Dirty but still held a lot of Surprises!
OMG! it's a Jaguar Tool Kit, though some things appear to be missing, the Question being what goes where and what could they be?
In this Photo you can see I found another Spanner but even though there is a Spare Slot for another Spanner to go in the Case there doesn't seem to be a Slot in which it will fit
Better Call For Paul! is what I'm thinking (This 5/8 X 3/4 Spanner seems too long to fit in the only Spare Slot I can see)
1 spanner - there should be 6 spanners
A spark plug box spanner. The handle lies parallel to the spanners in that slot by the case handle, then it has a UJ end, then the box spanner section runs at right-angles from that going towards the back of the box
A thin bar, that runs along the back of the case by the hinges, parallel to the spanners and can fit into the end of the handle / extension of the spark plug box spanner.
So Decided To Spend A Small Fortune On A Plastic Pipe Cutter
Having decided to replace the Injector Hoses in the Spring, I thought that I ought to get 'Tooled Up' and decided to Spend a Small Fortune on a Plastic Pipe Cutter as well as something I had never heard of and can't even show you a photo as I left it in the Garage, although I believe its called a Swedish Pipe Wrench?
That sort of looks like a Pair of Self Locking Stillsons 'Haven't had a chance to try those out yet' as being in the UK, of course it started to rain, although I did try out the Pipe Cutter and it is very truly an Amazing Piece of Kit, that works on a ratchet and requires no effort to use
But once again I was caught in the rain, so had to Film it indoors and so although its not a great Video, at least it will show you how it works, though I was a little bit nervous that the piece that I cut off was going to smash the Screen of my TV! although that didn't happen and so I am still in the game
That's a Very nice version of a very handy tool! I use up one of these about every couple years and must replace. I keep one or 2 (one on each side of the truck to avoid walking around it) on my truck since forever.
Cuts up to 2 inches diameter plastic pipe, even in tight spaces. The ease with which it does it depends how sharp the blade is -- Obviously!
You'll find all sorts of things go cut up now.

What about if you move them all down one slot? Will the remaining big spanner now fit in the largest spanner slot that is now free? If not, then it seems someone has mixed up or added the wrong spanner. Are they a matched set?
Cost of my Car Insurance on my XJS V12 just went up by £40! which was an increase of 25%
Although that's still quite reasonable, when compared to what others might pay, I am holding out until after the Budget, as who knows what other nasty Surprises may be in Store for us Motorists
In other News my Tyre Fitting Guy, called me up to tell me he had found a Brand New Pirelli P4000 for my XJS 4.0L and if I wanted it then I could have it for only £30
Just let me just think about that for a Nano Second or Two, A Brand New Pirelli P4000 that used to Sell for 'North' of £150 for only £30
Did I want it? Course I did! and it was in perfect Condition inside and out and here it is
What is it about Unboxing? Feel like Christmas has come early
I don't know what you Guys think but it looks pretty perfect to me!
You know my view on tyres, particularly the Pirellis that were originally fitted to XJSs. They were prone to tread delamination and splitting and also block-hardening. Pirelli moved from the P4000, to the P600 to the P6000 and eventually discontinued them. I get a bit paranoid about ages of tyres even when they are unused and stored in a cool place. Age deteriorates things unfortunately. I can't see the age of the tyre clearly but it seems to have a 3-digit code, rather than a4-digit code. So, it's 25+ years old. Put it on eBay, make a profit and let someone else take the risk.
+ME!
This is merely a 10 year old tire, had less than 100 miles on it when this happened:
Still had whiskers!
(I don't want to say how fast I was going at the time...)
That was exciting, I tell ya!

Trolley Jack Broke! Why do these things happen at the very time that you need them the most!
Thankfully I wasn't trying to lift my XJS but instead the Front of my Ride On Mower, that gets used for Cutting the Grass at 'Orange Blossom Towers'
So there I was Jacking it up, when suddenly I heard a 'Ping' and saw the bit that pumps the piston by the Handle Mechanism suddenly break off and then fall to pieces
Though 'Thankfully' it didn't come crashing down, as I could still undo the Valve and then Slowly lower it down, except of course I couldn't Jack anything up!
So it wasn't so much a disaster as a massive inconvenience, where to make matters worse if they could get worse, this was my very small Trolley Jack that I keep in the Boot/Trunk and always take out with me wherever I go
Because if you get a Puncture in your XJS the Scissor Jack that comes with the Car is an absolute 'Nightmare' to use, where instead my little Trolley Jack is an absolute 'Must Have' as you very often need it to lift up your XJS enough, in order to give you the Clearance to be able to Slide a much bigger 3 Ton Trolley Jack underneath
Having said that I've had this little Trolley Jack for Years and its not only helped me to get out of all sorts of otherwise dire situations, where I've used and abused it in every possible way, that its one Tool I can't live without and was made by a Firm called 'Ultimate Speed'
So I need to buy another one before I dare go out just in case I get a Puncture or something like that, where you need to do a Roadside Repair
I'm not even sure I could Fix it and its probably not worthwhile as they are only around £30 to buy
So that will be the First thing on my Shopping List!
I can't seem to find the same make as the one I had before, as least in a Stockist near me
So if you have any recommendations please let me know, although I am only planning to spend around £30 max as I have seen very similar ones with a different 'Badge' on at Double the Price, which look as if they may have been made in the same Factory
Gone but not forgotten! my 'Ultimate Speed Trolley Jack' that has got me out of many awkward situations and is something that I wouldn't be without
In this day and age, it's difficult to work out who exactly is making much of this equipment, with probably a lot of it coming out of the same factories in the East..
SGS have a relatively good name and are are doing doing a similar 2-ton unt at £36 at the moment. See here:
Thanks for your help in researching which 'Jack' could be the best one to buy and you are right as always, as they are very likely to have been made in China with different 'Badges' on
I was going to go for the smaller one, like the one that Broke, so that I would be able to keep it in the Boot/Trunk as anything is better that the Jaguar Scissor Jack that came with the Car, which it has to be said is a bit of a 'Nightmare to use'
But then during more research, I came across a bigger one that lifts 2.5 Ton that are all over ebay for around £44 which is physically quite a bit longer and a bit Wider
55cm Long X 21.5cm Wide and Weighs 30lbs about 10kgs
So my question is do you think its too big or even too heavy to carry around in the Boot/Trunk especially with regard to the Weight
As while it would be perfect for the Garage or Workshop, do you think it is too heavy to Carry around in the Car
As while the Small one is Handy, it does have limitations, that is making me think that the Bigger one may be better, especially as it is only £10 more and so its really just the Weight I'm more concerned about as an every day carry
Obviously I need one of each as that would solve the problem but funds are on the low side at this time of the Year
I think it depends on what you really see as being the use and potential frequency.
If it's just to lift a corner of the car to quickly get an axle stand or a proper 3-ton jack in place, I'd go with the small 2-ton option. Whereas if it's genuinely to act as a robust car-raising jack with an almost expectation that you'll be using it out on your travels, I'd probably get the bigger one.
I don't carry a jack in the car, other than the original scissor jack. I don't even have a full-size spare wheel and tyre. On overseas tours, I have carried a much more expensive lightweight full-size racing jack, but not for day-to-day UK use.
As regards the space and weight, I don't think that would worry me. The XJS boot is plenty big enough imo, and 10kg is just a decent lunch and carrying a few bottles of wine home from the supermarket, isn't it?!
As a matter of fact I just bought a 10 KG Sack of Potatoes and it really didn't seem to be that heavy, so I think that I will get the 2.5 Ton one and then get the Smaller one to keep in the Merc as soon as funds allow
I've already got 3 Big Trolley Jacks but they are very heavy and hard to move around
