I've been looking into some of the issues with my XJS, one of which is that when you turn the blowers on, nothing happens. I know there are two motors but it seems neither one is doing anything. I can hear some noises when I move the selector and temp switches so there seems to be some life there, but no blowers. The left and right and under hood fuses are all OK.

I pulled the glove box and I'm trying to get at the blower on the right side so maybe I can check for voltage there. I thought I saw somewhere that someone wrote a procedure for blower motor and relay repair.

Any pointers would be appreciated.

Would my 87 have an MKII or MKIII?

Also, I understand that the temp control sensor would keep the system from running the blowers to blow cold air in AUTO, but if I pull the left knob, I believe that puts it in manual and the blowers should blow????

 

If you have the "pull out for manual control" feature then you have the Mk III system

Removing the blowers is a b*tch.

Do you have the diagrams? I wouldn't pull the blowers until all alternatives are eliminated
