Default The Clock!

I've seen this question a few times (and had it myself). Why does the computer not have a working clock?

The truth is, it does! I found the stack of manuals and the like that came with my Hess and Eisenhardt (and yes, I have the H&E book), and found how to set the clock.

The digital clock is displayed on the computer when the ignition is 'ON', it is not zero'd as the computer functions are by the RESET button.

To set time: Press the RESET and TIME buttons together to set the hours display and the RESET and DISP buttons together to set the minutes display.
Is the clock persistent? I do not know this, as the car is spending the night elsewhere. I will find out, however, within a day or so. If anyone else is aware of whether or not it is, it would be good to know.

The display is set by tapping the relevant green button. If, having set the clock as you describe, you want the average fuel MPG to be dispayed, tap that button, or the ave MPH, tap that one, etc etc. IF you tap the "time" button, you will first get the time that the car has been switched on since the last reset, then, automatically after a few seconds, the display will revrt to the time of day.

So the time it takes to actually complete a journey, for example, is automatically recorded by the computer, if reset, or can be calculated by noting the start and finish times.
