Default Colour Centre Caps

Just took possession of my 95 XJS Convertible in green and Tan, The previous owner made a point to let me know the centre caps on the wheels were the wrong colour (Black) and should be red. Seems to me they should be green since Jaguar makes them in green to match the body colour. Is there a correct colour should I enter a Concours?

Hello,

Color is ruby/red for the 95's. The new style will fit, but you want the ones that have the cats face inlaid underneath the clear plastic

Also, I'm not positive but I believe the Jaguar leaper on the sides behind the front wheels was also red, they are black on my 94.

Default centre caps

Thanks

I will need a new set - the few that he gave me appear faded to almost pink. Will check my side markers to see what colour they are.

Luckily they are still available. Originals came with either a inlaid silver or gold growler:

This is what you are looking for

I've just put on blue JAGUAR heritage logo caps. Aftermarket yes, but in matching color and unique.

If you're interested in concours, then you need a copy of the judging guide from JCNA. Then you'll know what you're being judged on. In the parts book all colours are listed under the XJS section, so that is good enough. If they are listed in a Jaguar accessory brochure that would be sufficient as well.

Assuming they are genuine center caps and age appropriate, most judges will only look at condition and cleanliness. You should get a deduction if you used them on a pre HE car for example, as they are not age correct.

Personally, I would go green, since the paint is green.

EDIT: I just saw this is 3 years old!

From what I understand, and according to the attached 1995 sales brochure, red was introduced in 1995 for the 4.0 only. Black was the standard on the 6.0.

I could be wrong but that is what the brochure implies. My '95 4.0 Conv. has both red centers and side badges.
