Default Compatible compressors

Thank you in advance for anyone who can help.

I need to replace the compressor for my '94 XJ-S convertible. The serial number on the old unit is B709S3. Do I need to find the exact replacement or does there exist compatible a/c units that I can install? I'm having difficulties finding stock using this serial number and don't know if I can trust sites that say they carry a compressor that will fit my car.

Any and all comments or advise is welcome.
Thanks,

The Jag part number for the compressor assembly is CCC3772 but it's been superseded by part MHE7300AA. If you google that you will find a variety of vendors who have it. I have had excellent service from companies like Coventry West, Motorcars Ltd, Terry's Jaguar.

It's a pricy part, probably over $1000 for OE or $350-ish for a replica. I believe the original manufacturer was Sanden

Do you need the whole assembly or just the clutch?

Cheers,

Allan
