i run a 700R4 with a 10" convertor stall around 2200rpm.

reason i run a smaller convertor is the weight saving , and much improved engine response.

works out fine16yrs, has no lockup, but in overdrive its perfect.

and honestly the V12, just wont be happy with a lot of slippage!

it torques well as is.

and do know an XJS is never gonna be a real killer performance car, adequate YES, but not super performance!

I ran a 2500 stall converter bheind my V12....about 500 rpm higher than original. Worked well.

You wouldn't want to go lower than original.

Cheers

most times a small conv. would stall higher, but i had a conv. modifier guy install T 400 internals in a 10" housing,(machined to fit).
also the 700R4 has a lockup conv. which is very heavy.

anyway been OK for 16yrs, and like said in overdrive, cruises great.

2400 at 70mph,,!! but boy, you should hear the engine response, starting up and hitting the throttle, everybody looks over to see what it is!
sounds like an F1 car, 12 cylinders,, also a lightened flexplate, light weight front crank pulley, and an ALUMINUM single piece driveshaft, along with 3.73 powerlok gears.

nothing special, just old fashioned hot rod stuff.

these cars are all about show and sound,(i think you know what i mean)?
