Convertible top
Hi,
When I purchased my XJS the owner showed me how I should put the top down. He told me to lower the top a little then push down on the rear window then lower some more and then push down the window ....until the top is down. What do you think the problem is and what can I do to fix it?
The car is a blast to drive!

The top edge of the rear window will snag the top edge of the rear seat and rip the material on the back of the seat. When you lower the top, turn around in the driver's seat and watch the top as it goes down. When the rear window is an inch or so from the seat reach back and push the window down into the well. There's supposed to be an adjustment and I never took the time to figure it out.
My car is a '95 and they are fabulous cars.

I don't know how difficult they are to get to on the 94,95 convertibles, but there are pivots at the bottom of the glass, that attach to arms that are adjusted by loosening screws on the bracket that holds the arms to the body. Moving these brackets rearward, seems to change the glass pivot just enough to make a big difference. Just put a new top on my 89, and had to adjust it a couple of times to get it to work without binding.
