I'm recommissioning a 1996 4 litre XJS for a friend and am trying to fix a non-working Cruise Control.
A quick examination of the bellows identified that it won't hold vacuum due to a small hole just where it wraps over the edge of the internal metal plate at the throttle attachment end of the bellows as you can see in the pic. (The old insulation tape previously wrapped around it was a giveaway clue!)
I don't know what else might need fixing, so I'm trying to avoid having to spend £100 on a new bellows for this model as a first step. Anyone got any suggestions for what product might be worth trying to seal the hole for a quick fix? Black silicone? Superglue? Something else?
Make sure you clean the area well. I've found while doing paint that Isopropyl alcohol will not do as well as acetone at cleaning. But as long as its clean.
