Don,
I'm not sure how they would be related, even if you appeared to notice the problem at the same time.
I would first check the fuse that controls the cigarette lighter. But you really need to then start looking at the brake issue quite urgently. I'm sure we can advise on that.

Page 12 shows #16 as a 10 amp fuse for cig lighter.......also on page 12 is #11 as a 30 amp fuse for ABS ECM.....I have read several opinions that it is safe to drive without ABS ......some even say they prefer no ABS......If I decide to do nothing more than fuses and lights are still on dash....how do I get rid of those lights in dash.??
I appreciate any comments relative to these issues.
Thanks

Don,
You must get to the bottom of those lights. This is not just about whether you've got ABS functioning (you haven't got ABS if the light is on). But if you've got the red Brake System Fault light on, it indicates either:
- Low brake boost pressure (as an example, if you have no boost pressure, you'll have no rear brakes!)
or
Low Brake Fluid
If the red light comes in and status on for more than 40 seconds, then the system will disable the ABS as well and illuminate the yellow ABS light.
Start by checking that Fuse 11. (I'm not sure if the fuse fails whether both lights would become illuminated or not?). But also immediately check the brake fluid level before you drive the car again.
Cheers

Crazy turn of events......an old fella suggested that I do the following......I started the car in my garage and let her idle a few minutes....then I put my foot firmly on the brake pedal and held it there for a minute or so.....Both dash lights went out.....and remain out,,,,,,brakes working fine with firm pedal and no dash lights on.....,Does this make sense ??????

Don,
When the ignition is turned on, the Teves brake pump will run until the pressure has built up to the appropriate level in the accumulator. At that point, the pump will cut out and the lights will extinguish. That is normal behaviour. Having your foot on the brake shouldn't help matters, in fact it will increase the time that it takes to build up the pressure and extinguish the lights.
Hopefully there was just a blip in the system and now the problems have gone! even a dodgy speed sensor on the wheel can confuse the ABS system and force it in to that disable mode.
Just keep an eye on the dash lights.
Good luck
